Are Hound Dogs Hard To Train A Good Recall?

I have a hound dog, and his recall is really good now, but when I first got him it was SO hard to get him to listen to me, and come when he's called!! I have had a HARD time training a reliable recall with every hound I have owned!! I can teach them tricks, and they listen really good when doing tricks and getting praised galore for every trick they do right!! So I am wondering if the recall is harder to train because they have a REALLY GOOD NOSE to hunt with, or something else?
